Lawmakers demand hearing on N.Y. Fed's dealings with AIG

Reps. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., and Spencer Bachus, R-Ala., wrote to House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass., asking for a congressional hearing to discuss the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's handling of the rescue of American International Group. The Republican lawmakers argued that the effort amounted to a "backdoor" rescue of AIG's counterparties.
