Sony plans online store focusing on books, music, movies

In an effort to leverage its brand, Sony is planning to sell books, music, movies and mobile phone applications through a new e-commerce site, tentatively called Sony Online Service. The store would enable consumers with e-book readers, TVs and other devices to download a range of digital content. Sony will also encourage consumers to share their own digital content. "Sony will have a one-to-one relationship with customers to offer subscription services, cloud storage of personal content, as well as unique entertainment," said Sony Chairman, CEO and President Howard Stringer.
