South Korea to embark on $1.9B river overhaul

South Korea plans to spend $1.9 billion constructing reservoirs, eco-parks and wetlands on the country's four major rivers. Work is planned to be completed on the Nakdong, Yeongsan, Han and Geum rivers by 2012 to improve water quality. However, some critics of the project say it will damage the environment and waste taxpayers' money.
