Report: Better infrastructure is needed as disasters grow in intensity

Many parts of the world will experience an increase in the intensity of cyclones, droughts and other extreme weather as a result of climate change, according to a report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Governments could reduce the risks by developing locally tailored measures such as enhancing infrastructure and land-use planning as well as implementing warning systems for disasters, the report said.
