Iowa district seeks to bring more meal accounts into the black

Officials in an Iowa school district are considering a new policy that would help address the issue of unpaid meal accounts. During a recent discussion, officials considered whether to allow negative balances of $10 or $20. Under one version, when a student's unpaid balance reached that amount, a letter would be sent home, but schools also would allow leniency in certain situations.
