IRS: Tax season may be delayed for millions if AMT patch not enacted

The Internal Revenue Service Oversight Board sent a letter to the congressional tax-writing committees Monday, warning that failure to enact an alternative minimum tax patch could delay the start of tax season until March or later for 60 million taxpayers. The board also warned of delays if expiring provisions are not extended.
