Lack of inspection could compromise roof safety in Fla. city

The structural stability of roofs in Largo, Fla., could be in question after a resident noticed that a city building inspector assessed her new roof from the sidewalk. Inspectors are important for public safety because they check if the contractor’s work is up to code, said Mark Zehnal, director of technical services for the Florida Roofing, Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association.
