Researchers to share 3 PEM studies at upcoming meeting

Researchers are set to present three studies on positron emission mammography at an upcoming radiology meeting. One study, considered a pilot, showed PEM has a 98% specificity in diagnosing the metastasis of breast cancer to axillary lymph nodes. The method may prevent the unnecessary use of sentinel lymph node procedures while improving the detection of metastases, researchers said.
