$5.8M La. levee contract is approved despite rejected bidders' objections

The $5.8 million first phase of a Louisiana levee project is moving forward over the objections of two contractors who say they were treated inequitably by the St. Charles Parish Council. Last month, four of the six construction companies that bid on the project were disqualified after each firm failed to sign their bond forms correctly. The parish president said that the parish government had made sure that bidding was handled correctly and sought input from the state Department of Transportation and Development.
