Canadian railways, businesses must provide data on dangerous rail cargo

Canadian Transport Minister Lisa Raitt has ordered railways to provide detailed information to municipalities every three months about any hazardous cargo they transport through those areas. Individuals and other companies that also transport such goods must disclose data every year. The order was issued to support communities' emergency preparedness and safety after the crude oil explosion in Lac-Megantic, Quebec, in July.
