Educators in N.Y. should reject common core, Ravitch says

Education historian Diane Ravitch on Tuesday called upon educators in New York to boycott the Common Core State Standards and refuse to administer tests associated with the standards. Speaking at a meeting held by a local superintendents group, Ravitch urged the audience of 175 superintendents and administrators from Suffolk and Nassau counties to stop the testing. "Neither teachers or students are prepared for these tests. Stand together and there will be no punishment," she said. District officials said they would continue to urge the state to make reforms but did not commit to a boycott.
