Medical treatment on par with PCI in diabetes patients with stable CAD

Patients with diabetes and stable coronary artery disease who either received optimal medical therapy or underwent percutaneous coronary intervention did not show significant differences in overall survival, freedom from all-cause and myocardial infarction-related deaths or freedom from MI, data showed. The results presented at the American Heart Association meeting suggest that medical therapy is a proven treatment for diabetes patients with stable CAD, a researcher noted.
