Patients with diabetes and stable coronary artery disease who either received optimal medical therapy or underwent percutaneous coronary intervention did not show significant differences in overall survival, freedom from all-cause and myocardial infarction-related deaths, or freedom from MI, data showed. The results presented at the American Heart Association meeting suggest that medical therapy is a proven treatment for diabetes patients with stable CAD, a researcher noted.
