Qualcomm springs 4K video chip for smartphones, tablets

Qualcomm on Wednesday unveiled a quad-core chip -- possibly its fastest to date -- designed to support 4K video on mobile devices as well as the most recent 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology. The company said the Snapdragon 805, which carries a clock speed of 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 420 graphics engine, can present Ultra HD video at a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.
