Tennessee committee to propose alternative graduation plan

Students who fail Tennessee's Gateway exams would be able to graduate from high school if they demonstrated proficiency in different ways under a new proposal being finalized by a special committee. One option in the plan would allow students who fail the Gateway but score well on the ACT to graduate, while another would permit students to take extra academic courses in certain subjects.
