Missouri homeowner lobbies for rural building codes

A resident of Missouri's Christian County is gathering signatures for a building-code initiative. Ernest O'Gaffney last year unknowingly purchased a home that sits above a sinkhole. Many unincorporated areas in southwest Missouri do not have building codes. Enforcing building codes would require the county to hire two or three qualified inspectors and buy an equal number of vehicles for those new employees, county officials say.
