Markets throughout Asia dropped in the morning session but rebounded in the afternoon today. The Hang Seng Index in Hong Kong rose 2.9%, South Korea's Kospi jumped 5.8% and Tokyo's Nikkei 225 Average climbed 2.7%. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 1.9%, New Zealand's NZX 50 dropped 2.5%, Singapore's Straits Times Index added 3% and Taiwan's Taiex advanced 2%. China's Shanghai Composite, which had dropped more than 4% earlier in the day, inched down 0.7%.
