Stroke patients do better at hospitals with specialized care

A German study found community hospitals that have specialized stroke care and telemedicine support from major stroke centers have better patient survival rates than hospitals without specialized care. The study found hospitals with specialized care were more likely to implement rapid brain imaging, clot-dissolving drugs, swallowing disorder assessment and early initiation of stroke rehabilitation.
