RFA: U.S. is on pace to export 330 million gallons of ethanol in 2010

The U.S. is on track to export 330 million gallons of ethanol this year, up from 160 million gallons in 2008, according to Geoff Cooper, vice president for research and analysis at the Renewable Fuels Association. In September alone, 38.8 million gallons of ethanol were shipped abroad -- more than the total amount in 2006, the RFA said. The export surge is driven mainly by Brazil's lackluster sugar output and a U.S. ethanol market that is approaching saturation point, writes Daniel Gross.
