Cost of providing group health coverage rises 6.1%

The cost of group health care plans increased 6.1% in 2011 to an average of $10,146 per employee, a slightly lower increase than the 6.9% seen in 2010, according to a Mercer LLC survey. More employers are embracing consumer-driven health plans and using wellness incentives to encourage workers to improve their health as a way to help keep costs down.
