Retailers see tablet apps as the new catalogs

Retailers including Anthropologie, Saks and Wal-Mart are launching new iPad apps in time for the holidays, with an eye on creating more entertaining shopping experiences. Catalog-style apps let shoppers assemble outfits and include multimedia features to bring brands to life. "We’re thinking about the iPad as a new channel that needs to be treated differently," said Anthropologie's Chris Love.
