Students Skype with legislator over national debt crisis

Students at Marshalltown High School used Skype videoconferencing to connect with Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, who spoke with the students from his office in Washington, D.C. The students, who are members of a Contemporary Social Issues class, asked Grassley questions related to the national debt and the ongoing efforts to balance the country's budget. The videoconference was organized among other efforts to teach students about representative government. "This will allow them to get their voices heard," teacher Kelley Dickey said.
