A farm bill that would keep current sugar policies has been sent to the deficit-reduction Super Committee, though it would only be enacted in the unlikely event the Super Committee meets its Wednesday deadline. "The sugar program should be thoroughly reformed to lower consumer costs and provide relief for American small businesses who are being crushed by the current, overly intrusive government program," said Larry Graham, NCA president and chairman of the Coalition for Sugar Reform.
