Alaska coal plant's reopening makes progress with court ruling

The proposed reactivation of the $300 million Healy Clean Coal Plant in Alaska moved closer to reality after a federal judge approved a deal among the state, Golden Valley Electric Association and federal regulators. "This is a significant milestone in restarting HCCP," said GVEA interim President and CEO Cory Borgeson. "We are excited to be finally moving forward in getting the Healy Clean Coal Plant online in order to be able to provide Interior Alaskans with a reliable long-term lower cost power supply."
