American Bridge/Fluor complete load transfer on $6.3B Bay Bridge

American Bridge/Fluor crews at work on the $6.3 billion Bay Bridge in California have moved the 35,200-ton single-tower suspension span from temporary supports and attached it to 200 suspension cables. The bridge is scheduled to open by Labor Day. The next step will be to lock down the span and use seismic joints to attach it to the bridge's concrete skyway.
