Common habits can sabotage skin care

Wearing sunscreen and using products that contain retinoids can prevent skin damage and reverse signs of aging, but common habits can undermine good skin care routines, says dermatologist Lisa Chipps. Patients who sleep on their faces and have central heat or air conditioning are more prone to facial lines, she says. Habitually drinking from a straw can cause lines around the lips, bacteria from phones and glasses can cause breakouts, and weight fluctuations can cause skin to sag.
