HP-Autonomy revelation will have widespread effect

Hewlett-Packard's allegation of accounting fraud as the reason behind the nearly $9 billion write-down of its Autonomy business unit could lift CEO Meg Whitman's image in the long run by showing her to be a straight shooter. Among the losers are the Autonomy brand name, HP stockholders and Autonomy founder Mike Lynch, who could face legal action, Chris Kanaracus writes.
