WTTC CEO says ETS freeze averts global trade war

The European Union's decision to postpone the extension of its emissions-trading scheme to aviation until next year is "a very unexpected but very welcome development, which may now temporarily prevent a full scale trade war," said David Scowsill, president and CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council. Scowsill also recommended that the EU not impose the emissions trading policy on European airlines.
