BP wants appeals court to block Gulf spill payments

BP has requested that the federal appellate court in New Orleans order U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier to comply with the appellate court's October ruling to stop payments under the $9.2 billion settlement from the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. BP filed an appeal with the New Orleans panel on Thursday to block the payments. "The District Court has refused to enjoin payments to claimants that suffered no harm traceable to the oil spill," BP said in the filing.
