Iowa's wind energy sector key in reducing pollution

Environment Iowa reported that the wind energy sector helps reduce the amount of pollution in the state's waterways and air. "We are avoiding climate-altering carbon pollution equivalent to taking 1.7 million cars off the road and we are saving enough water to meet the needs of over 158,000 people [per year]," said Michelle Hesterberg, federal field associate at Environment America. Currently, wind power accounts for 25% of Iowa's total power generation.
