Professionals help launch robotics team for minority girls

Seeing a need for greater representation by girls and minorities in science, technology, engineering and math fields, two employees from Rockwell Collins -- an Iowa-based avionics and information-technology systems company -- helped launch a middle-school robotics team for African-American girls. The two women say they've been overwhelmed by the growth and maturity they've observed in the girls on Team Sparkle Bots.
