Restaurateur on a mission to manage type 2 diabetes

Chef Art Smith, restaurateur and former personal chef of Oprah Winfrey, changed his lifestyle after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes by focusing on eating unprocessed, plant-based food. Now, Smith is challenging restaurants around the country to make more diabetes-friendly fare. "I've said, if you can get restaurants to have just one healthy dish and label it on the menu, it will make a difference," Smith said. "I don't want people to feel excluded, but I want them to know what they can eat."
