Symantec: Apache Tomcat servers are threatened by wormlike malware

A new type of malicious software, similar to a computer worm, is targeting Apache Tomcat servers, according to Symantec. The "Java.Tomdep" malware operates like a Java servlet and could be used for user-datagram-protocol flood attacks, the company says. Infected servers have been discovered in nine countries, including the U.S.
