Efficiency lets Kraft cut millions of shipping miles

More efficient distribution methods have helped Kraft Foods trim 50 million miles off delivery routes since 2005. The improvements have come from finding alternative transportation methods and using technology to improve logistics -- which helped the company log fewer miles, reduce inventory layovers and cut the time trucks spend waiting to drop off and pick up shipments. The plan has helped the company cut about 2,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
