The first prototypes of the 2011 Chevrolet Volt hit the road last week, finally allowing drivers to answer one nagging question: What happens when the charge runs low? The generator-powered drive remains smooth -- though much different from conventional cars, Lindsay Brooke writes. The new vehicles may take some getting used to, but Brooke concludes that the Volt is an "extremely refined vehicle."
