Kidney patients have higher risk of death with weekend admission

Patients with end-stage kidney disease who were admitted to the hospital on a weekend were 17% more likely to die in the hospital than counterparts admitted on weekdays, a study revealed. Researchers said that more investigations are needed to determine what accounts for the "weekend effect."
