October construction starts surged from September levels

Construction starts in the first 10 months of the year totaled $214.5 billion, or 1.9% below the level from the same period a year ago, according to Reed Construction Data. But the figures, which exclude residential starts, picked up month over month. October starts were up 30% compared with September.
