Baltimore preps Saturday School program for December launch

The Baltimore, Md., school system is set to launch a new Saturday School program beginning in December for students who received "basic" scores in math on recent state tests. The 10-week courses, which will provide up to 30 hours of additional math instruction for eligible students in grades 4 to 8, will be modeled after the city's award-winning summer program that focused on hands-on and project-based learning. "There's just not enough time in the regular instructional day," said Yorkwood Elementary principal Deborah Sharpe.
