Study links diabetes to bladder cancer recurrence

Diabetes patients undergoing treatment for bladder cancer were twice as likely to suffer cancer recurrence and faced a ninefold increased risk of cancer progression when compared with patients who do not have diabetes, a study in the International Journal of Urology revealed. Researchers also found that patients with diabetes generally were older and had higher levels of hypertension and multiple tumors compared with those who did not have the disease.
