Data show how schools perform after getting federal turnaround grants

Schools nationwide have received $4.6 billion in School Improvement Grants -- a program prioritized by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. Data released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Education showed that about one-third of schools reported lower scores after receiving turnaround funds, while two-thirds saw some improvements.
