JM Smucker: FDA trans fat regulation won't affect business

The FDA's recent bid to ban trans fat will not impact JM Smucker's business, CEO Richard Smucker said Wednesday during an earnings call. "For the past several years, the food industry in general, and our company specifically, have been responding to changes in consumer preference in this area," he said. Smucker's Crisco brand shortening already contains 0.5 grams or less of trans fat per serving, which meets the FDA criteria for a "0g trans fat" claim.
