Plastic surgery pioneer, co-founder of Flying Doctors charity dies

Thomas D. Rees, a former president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and co-founder of the Flying Doctors Service of East Africa, died Nov. 14 at the age of 86. Rees is credited with helping remove the stigma around cosmetic surgery, chaired the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital's plastic surgery department, founded an annual plastic surgery symposium and taught other plastic surgeons.
