Recycled aggregates could make concrete more sustainable

The use of recycled concrete aggregates for building projects around the world could be a significant solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, writes Marc Howe. Furthermore, the International Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials found that concrete manufactured from RCAs are also a suitable alternative "for structural applications, with only modest differences in performance compared to concrete produced using directly mined aggregate," Howe writes.
