Rockefeller introduces cybersecurity bill as amendment to defense act

Sen. Jay Rockefeller, D-W.Va, is presenting his Cybersecurity Act of 2013 as an amendment to the defense authorization bill after the Commerce Committee unanimously endorsed his proposal in July. Rockefeller's measure is more modest than a previous proposal and aims to codify an executive order requiring the National Institute of Standards and Technology to create voluntary cybersecurity best practices. It would also support cybersecurity R&D and education.
