Schumer asks FCC to keep spectrum auction open to all

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., urged federal regulators this week against limiting the participants in the upcoming wireless incentive auction, saying the government needs to receive the maximum amount of revenue from the auction to adequately fund the FirstNet emergency response network. Many broadcasters are expected to skip the auction if they believe the Federal Communications Commission will limit their upside in selling their spectrum, Schumer wrote in a letter to FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler.
