France to implement WTO pact on generics for poor countries

By early 2005, France says it plans to implement a World Trade Organization pact intended to give developing countries access to critical drugs they normally cannot afford. Health Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy said a bill will be submitted to parliament in January and he urged other European countries to implement the WTO pact. So far, only Canada and Norway have approved legislation in support of the program.
