Washington state lawmakers push transportation projects

The Washington state legislature is considering two large transportation projects as part of a plan to create more jobs. Officials note that proposals to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Highway 520 bridge are not affected by a shortfall in the state's operating budget because transportation has its own budget funded by gasoline taxes. Costs range from about $5 billion to $10 billion.
