The recession of 2009 forced leaders who were used to prosperity to recognize that business basics such as cash flow still matter, writes Wally Bock. But leaders should realize that their employees are a powerful resource, even in a downturn, so companies should look for ways to improve their outlook without needlessly shedding staff, he argues. "In a Knowledge Economy, people, with their knowledge and relationships, are the key to long-term, sustainable competitive advantage," he writes.
