House disaster-policy reform bill should pass promptly, group says

11/23/2009 | PropertyCasualty360 is urging the House of Representatives to promptly pass legislation that would revamp existing disaster policies as well as provide incentives for states with building-code enforcement programs to mitigate the effects of future catastrophes. The projects would "serve as an impetus for the states to adopt more uniform building codes, as the standards for construction, inspection and enforcement vary greatly across states under the current framework," the group said.
