Pickens: Natural gas can help U.S. reduce energy imports

The U.S. should consider adopting the Pickens Plan, which calls for the advancement of natural gas and the expansion of renewable-energy production, so that it could significantly reduce oil imports, generate more jobs and lower its trade imbalance, writes oil tycoon T. Boone Pickens. Most of the country's gas resources are in large shale deposits in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas and the Appalachian region, and could be commercially recovered via new drilling techniques, he writes.
